phones, tablet PCs and PC is expected to grow 10 times the speed of Wi-Fi send and receive data

This year, thanks to new wireless technology, smart phones, tablet PCs and PC is expected to grow 10 times the speed of Wi-Fi send and receive data. The technology not only can be used to transmit video and other large files, but you can replace the PC and the cable between the monitor or projector.

This is an operating frequency of 60 GHz wireless technology, called "WiGig". Including Apple, Microsoft and Sony, including industry giants have been working together for several years for the introduction of new standards, few support WiGig standard products are available now. Pushing more product launches, the technology is expected to be popular this year.

WiGig can transmit data faster, for his work on higher radio frequency, can be encoded for more information. The current 60 GHz protocol can support a maximum transfer rate of 7 Gb / s, while the fastest Wi-Fi protocol can achieve a rate of 433 Mb / s, work at 5 MHz frequency. Most Wi-Fi network is still using slower protocols.

Mobile device processor and wireless chip maker Qualcomm WiGig technology to invest in a lot. At CES in Las Vegas this month, the company has built-in wireless router for this technology were demonstrated. The equipment will be in front of the city by the end of 2015.

Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon mobile processor also provides support for WiGig's. Provide access to high customer reference design uses a 60 GHz wireless chip, while the first equipped Xiaolong 810 processor-based devices are expected to be available in mid-2015. At CES, Qualcomm also conducted a demonstration of the processor's built-in tablet WiGig transmission via video.

Qualcomm is responsible for product management director (Mark Grodzinsky), said, WiGig technology is more reliable than Wi-Fi. Due to its new frequency bands, not only can reduce the radio channel congestion, and having a directivity characteristic which makes it encounters less interference. Wi-Fi devices transmit signals in all directions, while WiGig technology through a very small beam antenna array device sends a signal to the connection.

"Signal is no longer floating around," said. "Even in the same room, it is possible interference between them."

WiGig technology developer expects the technology to promote high-definition video applications. The latest smart phones can record high-resolution video. representation, WiGig will appear in the set-top box, allowing streaming media content from mobile devices more easily displayed on a high-definition television, or in the faster upload to the network. According to Qualcomm estimated with the help of WiGig technologies, a full-length HD movie in less than three minutes to transfer is completed.

However, compared with Wi-Fi is concerned, 60 GHz signal also has some disadvantages. They can be blocked by the walls, ceilings and floors, which makes the limitation of the scope of application of this technique in the same room.

WiGig Intel is developing its own technology, the company's developer conference last year, said, WiGig chip will appear in a notebook during the year 2015. At CES this month, Intel demonstrated a laptop computer, which is connected to the use of WiGig monitors and other peripherals.

Samsung is also expected to be launched during the year WiGig products. The company announced in late 2014, will develop their own WiGig technology, and plans to commercialize in 2015. The technology will be on Samsung's mobile, medical and smart home products are used.

The technology can also be used to expand capacity of the cellular network. Last year, from the University of California by Heather Zheng (Heather Zheng) led researchers demonstrated a technology that enables high-speed access in the outdoors more than 100 meters away. "I think the potential of this technology is that it can be deployed to a busy intersection or shopping center," Ben Cho (Ben Zhao) professor working for the project said.

Professor Zhao predict a further decline in prices along with, 60 GHz technology is expected to achieve a more extensive use. He and Zheng is for Google testing a new technology, hoping to use it to replace some cables used in large data centers. They also found that the use of 60 GHz technology devices can use the same signal as the radar beam to detect the position and size of the approaching object.

The technology will be able to offer higher rates. "Over the next few years, WiGig rate will reach tens of Gb per second," said Qualcomm  "I think that the specification is expected to reach 100 Gb / s."
